Default Is this replacebable?

Hey all,

I noticed this on the underside of my C3:

Is this part thats pretty chewed up the radiator support and is it easily replaceable or does this require welding / Part of the car frame? Thanks all.

Yes that’s your radiator support, and yes that’s pretty far gone. They are a bolt in replacement though, and if you haven’t given your coolant a good flush recently having the radiator and everything else out gives you an easy opportunity.

Thank you for sharing, do you have any recommendations on where I can get my hands on a good one?

Very common problem. Replacements are available from Zip Corvettes.

The ones from Zip are manufactured by Coffman Corvettes and it is my understanding they are made in the USA.

If you would fill out your profile about what year your car is, or at least mention it in the post, folks could point you straight to the link for the part. Looks a late 70s-early 80s?

Here is a 79-81 rad support: https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-6...0%26count%3d18

Not sure where my post disappeared... but, I found this:

https://www.ecklers.com/1979-1981-co...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

It seems to be very well priced and I was wondering if this would fit in a 1977 C3. I have seen other listings that say 76-81 so was wondering if anyone knows.

Thanks all

I see that the one Ecklers lists for a '77 is has a normal price of $446 but is out of stock. The one you show is 50% off, but it's for later years. I doubt it'd fit perfectly but you could call Ecklers and ask. Here's a link to one for a 77 https://www.topflightautomotive.com/...support-1976l/

I worked in maintenance for 34 years at the automotive parts company that made all of the Corvette radiator supports for GM. These parts are very year, transmission, A/C and engine size spacific. They are not a one size fits all part. Coffman Corvettes ended up with the GM dies to make these supports. GM made us destroy all of the old GM dies that we had and so the 1968 different design support dies are gone. A very sad day for me since I have had a 68 coupe for 53 years now. Corvette Central has reproduced the unique 68 only support. Lou.
