Extra sealer?
I'm almost finished putting the my transmission case back in place.
Is it better to smear some ATF sealer (Permatex) as an 'extra' on these covers?
I have the new O-rings installed (not visible in the picture).
They came of without any sealer. Just the old (and brittle) o-rings.
The manual says nothing about it, but there are a lot of guys on youtube that do this as an 'extra' it seems...
Do it, or not do it?

So I'll run with that.
I am no automatic transmission expert by any means.
I am however a mechanic. One who really doesn't like come backs. Automatic transmissions have fluid under a lot of pressure in various places. And your transmission case isn't brand new anymore. So, a thin smear of extra sealant to help compensate for old less than perfect gasket surfaces sounds like a very good idea. Making certain of course not to accidentally block off holes or passages that need to remain open. A THIN smear is key here.
But on the pan gasket and the gasket between tail-shaft housing and main case I would recommend a product from Permatex.
Its ATF sealant, RTV, small tube. It is truly ATF proof where not all Permatex products are.
However, in Belgium it may not be accessible.
