Default Quick Jack, Still Like It?

I’m thinking about purchasing a new Quick Jack to help lift my 73.
I know many members here on the forum have purchased them in the past and I’m just wondering if you are still happy with your purchase after you’ve used it for a couple of years.
What model did you purchase and would you purchase a different model if you were to purchase it now?
Except for not being able to slide under the car from the side, have you experienced any other issues or problems?
I don’t want a two or four post lift because I don’t have the room or ceiling height.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

I bought the 3500 7 years ago. No real issues, except when one of the fittings started leaking, probly due to me not putting rubber covers on. Since then I use the rubber covers on all fittings and no issues.

Paid 900 bucks on sale at Costco back in 2017.

Would love a lift but as you stated no room….

I've had my 5000 for over 5 years. No leaks. No problems getting stuck or tipping/being unsteady etc.
Use your common sense when operating any equipment and always make safety a priority and you will enjoy your Quick Jack for many years.

bought 5000 from costco for 799 on clearance several years ago.
i since purchased
- SUV adapters (works for corvette as you do NOT want to double the blocks.) link with details here. Gives more height and do not squash.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...er-and-c3.html
- Purchased the extensions as the 5000 is too short for my Pilot and CRV.

so i would consider the 7000 with adapters IF IT FITS UNDER THE C3 lengthwise.
one small leak at adapter i wipe up.. never looked at it..
Note.. the extensions on the 5000 will NOT clear the corvette. I drive over the 5000 without extensions all the time and ready to go when i need it.

I have had mine for about 4 years and can't imagine life without it. I had a few issues when I first got it with leaks but the company promptly sent me new fittings. Still get one or two small dribbles once and awhile but no biggie. Had to put air in one of the cylinders once. My brother has a lift and quite honestly I think this is a better set up. You can get under it without hitting your head. When I get under the lift I always have to turn my head up! Brake jobs are easy. But it is HEAVY.

IT's fantastic. 5000 TL is what I got (I'll double check here in a moment-- yes it was...)
I got mine last year and it is really useful for those things that you would put off. I shoulda bought it earlier instead of playing around with jacks, and jackstands, and ramps, and whatnot....

FYI - when you assemble I recommend you use BOTH the Teflon Tape and Thread Sealant provided. That was the only way I could get the fittings to not leak......and I have one more to do. Just MAKE SURE to be careful with the Teflon Tape so as to NOT contaminate the hydraulic system.

You're looking at the perfect time for sales. Check Costco and Home Depot..... Last I checked, for Veterans the home depot discount price would be the same as I paid for my costco sale thing last fall .....

Amazon has one for about the same price I paid at costco last year. 5000 TL --- you don't need anything else if you get this model.

I was looking into these quick jacks for some time as well... 5000TLX is approx. 1750$ VAT excluded over here - which is not that bad...The reasons I'm still hesitant to buy are:
  • Compared to jack stands, it doesn’t seem like a significant game changer in terms of lift height. However, I noticed that the height can be increased further with those SUV adapters, which is a plus.
  • I would likely remove it after each use and store / hang on the wall. I prefer not to have anything on the garage floor, as I vacuum and mop there regularly. Leaving it on the floor would get in the way, so I don't see much time savings compared to using a jack and stands.
  • Additionally, during winter, water from another car sometimes pools in the garage as snow melts off it. Jack stands have occasionally ended up standing in water, but that didn’t bother me, of course, given their cost.

@interpon By looking at the picture you posted, I'm assuming that you're using it with these SUV adaptors to gain more clearance? Are these a must? From the pics, it almost looks that way... (264$ extra over here)

I came late to the party with a QuickJack, so have had mine about 3 or 4 years I think, the 5000 model.
I've had no issues and I love it, it makes a lot of jobs so much easier.
I use the thicker of the two sizes of rubber blocks that are supplied and that gives more than enough clearance to the car's frame. The small blocks allow the chassis cross member to contact the Quickjack frame.
If I had a comment it is that it is very heavy - the guy in the ads just moving it around as if it weights a few pounds must be some sort of "World's Strongest Man" contender! I 'm not able to leave mine on the floor under the car and have to store it in the garage, and I do notice the weight. Other than that I'd thoroughly recommend one!👍

not a must. Yes that’s it.
it probably adds 1-2 inches as it does not squish. Using short suv. Again, i suggest not to double stack. YMMV on heights to fit best block/ suv adapter.
i drive over mine and sweep or blow ff if it accumulates junk.most of the time corvette sits very it anyway. I do NOT unhook hoses, just out front and pump ready to go. If i want to work on another car i move and add extension if needed.

i have jacked a few cars front and back and jack stands, not the easiest thing when raising the second end of car that high for me anyway.

something to be said for how fast it is left on ground. I rotate tires with ease now on all my vehicles unless costco tires, i let them do. Great chance to clean up back sides of wheels. No dealer scratches on wheels etc.
also, just a note, if you buy from Costco, it is essentially warranted to your satisfaction if you need support or exchange.

exactly, pita if i had to set up each time.. my solution, it stays on ground other than extensions.

Lots of guys zap strap small casters to the quick jack to make it easier to move while setting up. Lots of YouTube videos on this mod. I have the 5000TL. Happy with it. I’ve bought the casters but haven’t attached them yet.

I added the casters on mine. Move about on the floor easily. I leave mine underneath the car, but I do not have concerns with standing water or such.
I use the short rubber blocks. I would not be able to squish those bigger things under there unless I lifted it first....which defeats the purpose of making things easy for me.

The big benefits I see are that:
1. It's a lot dang safer that lifting each corner with jack.... just have to pay attention.
2. It allows me to get things done that I would otherwise put off for some other time.
3. It is up higher than the work I've been doing under there for years.

I believe I have a tape-measure picture of how high up it is....gimme a sec.

Found it.....and that's with rubber blocks:

I’ve had my 7,000 LB model for over a year now. Much better than jack stands, but like others have said use both teflon tape and the thread sealer. I used just the sealer the first time and had nothing but leaks. With teflon tape I’ve been leak free.

Works absolutely wonderfully for doing suspension work.

I bought the 5000TL a couple of years ago from Costco. I love it.

Jack stands make me nervous; the QuikJack feels super secure even when I've had to really wrestle with stuff on my '69. Definitely well worth the money.

Thank everyone for your comments.
I’m going to purchase one directly from Quick Jack.
They have a good sale going right now.
Costco doesn’t show them on their website any longer otherwise I would purchase it from Costco.

I’ve been fighting this purchase for several years.
While I jacked up my 73 the other day, I really didn’t like how long it took and how much it was moving around until I got it on the stands, besides my floor jacks are both over 30 years old and the hydraulic seals aren’t holding pressure like they should.

I don’t have any room to hang it up so I’ll put the castors on so I can move it around the garage to clean under it.

Thanks again to everyone helping me spend my retirement money.

same here Greg, works as advertised. My previous home had a 4 post lift but alas, like you no room in my 1934 era 1.5 car garage. You’re welcome to look at mine and or a walk through demo any time.

Thanks Ken!
I wish I could have a 2 or 4 post lift.
We should meet up for coffee some day.
We still drive into the city to do some shopping and we want to check out the new Costco.
If you haven’t been to LJ’s Speed and Machine, go introduce yourself to the owner John.
He and his wife Kathy are great people and so is their entire staff.

I saw that sale at Costco too, but also saw this when looking for reviews:

7,716lb Double scissor car lift 3500 Kgs (MRSL77) - Capital Automotive Equipment

It lifts up 1m or 39 inches and I'd just leave it in place. Looks like the price on the website is canadian dollars. The website says they have locations in Canada and the US.

This was an interesting review of it:

I have the original model, not sure but possibly 5000, love it. Makes things so easy.

With the rubber blocks it just fits under the frame rails at my ride height. 😁
