Install New Engine or Rebuild Current

Last roughly 20 years I work for a big business shop.
Don't listen to all the recommendations of any large shop. DO NOT! The stuff we build where I work gets the job done. But certainly isn't what I would build for myself! We sell and promote big time what puts money in the till.
On the side, after work, I would strongly recommend brand S for most engine parts for instance. As there quality and machining is absolutely the best, hands down. But, at work. We highly recommend brand A .
As profits are much better for us using brand A.
So, do your Homework. If you believe brand K pistons are the way you want to go. Stick to your guns!

Reading through your post and mine, it sounds like we are still on the same page with our comments.
My point to the OP was more about listening to what the builder recommends because building an engine these days is more of a science than it was back in the day.
Many of the brand name components that have been around for a long time, may not be the same quality they used to be and there are many better brand names out there today.
The OP definitely needs to do his research and know what brand name and level of quality components he what’s going into his engine.
I could have saved $10k building my engine with lesser quality components, and finding a cheaper shop, but top quality was my #1 concern.
