Default 1971 Coupe Engine

The 1971 Corvette Coupe that I purchased from and estate does no have the original engine in the car. The original engine was sold to me with the car. The VIN Number on the engine stamping matches the VIN for the car.
I do not know what the other numbers on the engine mean. Can anyone help?

I do not know the reason that the original engine was removed and replaced. I will have the engine rebuilt in the future.

If you do have the rebuilt make 100% sure that the machine shop does not machine off those numbers.

You will find why it was removed when you disassemble it. The '71 engine has low CR heads and mild cam; but is otherwise a decent engine that can be easily "enhanced". If nothing major is damaged, putting a rebuilt 'original' engine back in the vehicle will certainly enhance the value.
