I am on the fence on whether to install the spark plug shields on my numbers matching 69 350/350. I had a buyer for the car who did not want the shields. Well, he had to bail and I now need to make a decision. I want to sell the car but do I install the shields or sell it as it is. I have all the distributor shielding in place. Just the 4 plug shields remain.
I'd not bother as they are, I hear, a pain to install and most buyers won't notice unless they are well acquainted with Corvette shielding. If someone makes a point of it, then offer 1-2 hundred off the sales price, otherwise, just let it go.
Agree, they are a pain and most people will just remove them anyway. Although a numbers matching price might mean you have the parts in a box for the buyer.
I would install the shields. However, if the spark plugs are old, it would be best to replace them BEFORE installing the covers. Plug change is a real PITA with the shields in place. NOW would be the time to change plugs, if needed.
OR,
Box up all the shields with proper identification as to where they are placed; then include them with the sale.
If it were me, I would change the plugs (recommend NGK iridium plugs for 100K mile life!) AND install the shields. That can be a good selling point to future owner, knowing that there is no need to mess with plugs/shields.

Thanks! Plugs, wires and coil are new - Distributor was restored.
John, we are not old....we are now VINTAGE. GLWS. Jim
I don't feel old at all. A guy came by the house to pick up a part I had for sale. He asked how old I was. I asked how old did he think I was. 55 he said - I could of kissed him!!!
I think the Corvette hobby keeps us young!!!!! Rather be in the garage or car shows than sitting
I just turned 80 and still working on vintage cars. Folks ask why I'm still climbing under dash boards and working on this stuff. My answer.... "because I still can!"
You are correct. The work (exercise) we expend keeps us viable....
