The upper fender trim is ready to go back on the car. I bought the “correct” clips from Zip and I see many sources selling the same style clips.
When I try to push them onto the edge of the fender, they jam up on the inside. There’s not enough of the narrow lip for them to fully seat and it seems that some material needs to be removed from the underside.
Not sure which side of the clip is “up” either. One side has a single tang. The other has 2. Does it matter?
You have to drill little holes for the tang to seat in. Once they seat in that hole it's almost impossible to get the clip out.
my 69 had two clips each side. I'm going to say single tab up, but it's been a long time since I did this.
That's not counting the tiny metal reinforcing tab with teeny rivets at the end.
BTW , this is from factory.
