Getting my ‘77 ready for paint the antenna dropped down inside mounting hole on rear deck and unable to locate it. Car hasn’t been moved so it is still in there somewhere but don’t know how to find and retrieve it. Oh where oh where can it be? The plate is there but no antenna Looking but can’t see it in there
I'm assuming you don't mean the shaft fell down through the hole. There's not anywhere else the cable can be, so it's above the muffler. Unless you're a contortionist, you'll have to remove the muffler to reconnect at the topside.

While we are on the subject...my cable is not connected but the antenna assembly is in place. What if anything has to be removed to put it back? Thanks!!
Hello,
The ring on the outside of the fender is tightened to hold the antenna base in place.
You can see the 'notch' that base fits in to stop the base from spinning as you tighten it in post #3.

Thanks...it is the cable from the radio that I need to attach. Wouldn't that be from below that I have to get to? Is it simply a reach up and connect event?
Hello,
You need to reach past the muffler and side of the spare tire carrier.
Dropping the tire carrier (as though you were going to take the spare out) will help with some access.
Not easy.
