Default ‘77 Sidepipe Help

Hello, I’ve posted previously about my rear bumper on my ‘77 (I’m going to go with the Custom Image bolt on without the bumperettes…after like 4 months of back and forth with myself) and I figured the car would be a hot rod of sorts so side pipes fit the bill. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for such side pipes for my car? Preferable a kit including headers as well? This winter we’ll be either stroking the existing engine out to 383 cubic inches or putting in a 427 sbc if that helps too? Don’t know if that can factor into what pipes I should get. My budget will be around $1,500 or so, I don’t want to install some cheap parts that rust or crumble to dust after use. Sorry if this post isn’t too helpful, but truly anything will be useful for me

I spent about 2k on my Doug’s SS side pipes and headers. Expensive yes, but will never rust. I would do a lot of research into the baffles/mufflers you want to put in them, as some can be very restrictive.

I’ll look into those, I’ll eventually get around to them. I just wanted to have idea now I’d like to also try to prevent burns and heat, would heat shields fit around those pipes? Or, is there any better form of insulation (outside of being aware of course). We’ve installed heat insulation all in the cabin as well to at least stop heat build up through the floor. But direct contact is obviously a little more hot. Also, that’s a beautiful car you’ve got there

Thanks! Here’s a thread about heat shields on these side pipes. If you have an under car exhaust right now you’ll find the side pipes significantly reduces cabin heat since there’s no pipes directly underneath you.

Beautiful! Are those stock wheels, they look bigger. Or is it the lowered suspension?

Definitely spend the extra money to get stainless side pipes. Coated and painted will always end up rusting. My stainless Hookers have been on the car now for over 15 years.
