Default hp estimate

i have a 78 pace car, it has true duals, absoulutely no emissions, forged crank, and a slightly larger (radical)cam, not sure about the cam, but i know its not stock. L-82 engine, auto tranny. as opposed to the stock 220 hp, what might this have?

The more radical your motor, the more a restrictive exhaust hurts performance.....

Putting a cam, meant to turn 5500-8000 RPM, in a motor with a 2-bbl carb, small valves, and low-compression, would make less power than a camshaft who's profile was 'matched' to the other parameters of the motor

Yes a convertor can steal some power, but your using stock manifolds. They are squeezing all that gas down into a small pipe. Hopefully you up sized to 2 1/2" pipes. 25% I've never seen...That would mean if you pulled the cat off your 220 hp, you would be at 275+ which I highly doubt. The pump and egr don't do enough to amount to any gain.

What cam is it? What I mean is adding a big cam to a 8.5 to 1 motor with smog heads is not going to do much. The reason, your heads can't flow enough to cc to make power. Yes you might gain alot, but not much. I'm not trying to offend you with the low number, it's a lesson we have all learned.

If ya can't dyno your car, try to weight it, and run a 1/4. You can get a pretty close estimate of HP from a 1/4 if you have car weight.
