Okay I got my e-brake bracket changed to the top location but I'm unsure how everyone is routing the e-brake cable after doing this.. I currently think that I will run it behind the brake line close to the body vs running it between the trailing arm and the brake line... You recommendations are greatly appreciated... Dave..
you can Ty-rap the E-brake cable to the trailing arm to prevent chafing through the brake line. I would only use the "real" Ty-raps with a steel latch in them, NOT! the plastic latch type.
I finally gave up on installing the new SS cable and will use the original cable it is more flexible after 40 years. I think that I'm going to run it between the brake line and the body... Thanks guys.. Dave.
Ten years ago, when I first moved mine, I remember fiddling around with that location/concept of on top for the bracket, and found the cable routing a problem, so I just moved it behind the rotor, and ran the cable in nearly the stock location, but with the other ends mounts moved outward on the frame thwart and angled a bit to help the cable miss the tire, I still used a spring off the shock mount to make damn sure it never rubbed the tire...
I'm having trouble visualizing your question. Changed mine last year and as I remember there was only one way it could be routed because the cable is so tight. Mine goes the same routing as the oem, except on top of the trailing arm vs the side.
one problem we are having with our new cable and the offset trailing arm with the relocated bracket is that the ball on the end of the cable is at a wierd angle so it doesnt sit in the clip type thing that actuates the brake in the trailing arm?? it has already fallen out a couple times, what is wrong with that?
Thats another problem that I too am having. I got new cables and it appears that the distance from the large flat area that goes on one side of the ta bracket to the mickey mouse clip is to long. So this allows for slop and eventually the clip comes out and the cable flails around... Dave..
