Electrical problems
I have a 81 and i just finished putting a new power antenna and carpet in it, but now that I have finished all of that none of my gauges work, my battery light comes on when once i hit the gas, the tach stays at about 6,000, and the choke light also comes on once I hit the gas. Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Please help me!

Sounds like it may be a ground issue. Go back over every step of what you did and check your wiring and make sure everything is secure and all your ground wires are in place. This is a good place to start. You may also have to look under your newly installed carpet to see if any loose wires are shorting out against the floor pans or any or metal surfaces. I agree. Iwould start with the power antenna, was this a replacement or did you add it? If you added, where did you get power and ground? Either way, try disconnecting it and see what effect that has on the rest.

The good news is you know where the problem lies- in something you just did. So, go back and undo everything that you did. Then, ask questions here before you start to rewire. Work REALLY slowly and solder all wires, shrink wrap connections, no frayed wires or sloppy electrical tape. If you WORK SLOWLY and make sure all connections are sealed and correct, you can't go wrong.
