Contact your lawyer, seriously, when i went through my divorce ,they told me that it was bought while being married so shes still entitled to half.Luckily we settled better then expected.Good luck.
If you sell it to a friend she is still going to get 1/2 the money. If you have a REAL good friend and can trust them give it to them. Get it out of your name. A good lawyer will find out the value though and want 1/2 the value but I know a friend of mine saved some of his valuable things this way. A car is going to be tough to hide. Divorce is messy.

If you bought the car while you were married, she is entitled to 1/2 of its actual cash value (ACV) regardless of what you sell it for or give it away for. Keep the car and give her the BBQ grill, the 2 dogs, and the china. Fair trade.
In most States there is time involved--inother words you would need to transfer title 6 months prior to a divorce papers being served--I believe it is a longer period of time before you could say declare a bancruptcy. Best to consult a local atty. So you can't just transfer title to avoid creditors.

It will have to be appraised by a second party and you will have to pay half or sell it. The key is have you been served yet? If not, you might be able to react pretty quick. Selling it for a dollar is a myth and will end up screwing you on everything else. Also, don't try to be fair and nice. It's war now and you it will not help you in the final decisions. I had my vette appraised and paid her half. Fair, no. But that's not how the state felt. Good luck

Is her name on the title? If so, you can't do anything without her signing the title for the sale.
You could always forge her name for the sale. If you do that, you might as well just leave the house with the shirt on your back, because that is all the courts are gonna leave you afterwards.
my heart goes out to you. been there, done that. don't want to do it again.
Guess that's Reason #137 why a vette is better than a wife.
Hate to say it, but bend over, you're gonna get screwed. you'll probably not be able to "hide" any of your assets. especially a car. too much paper trail.
In this society, the man is ALWAYS assumed to be at fault in a divorce. hope you get out with more than the clothes on your back. Hopefully, you don't live in a state that requires Alimony or you get to live with this mistake for the rest of your natural life. Child Support is a real treat too.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no sense in sugar coating it.
When I went through my last one I had a 68' Z28.My lawyer said I had to get it appraised,& it might be to my benifit if it wasn't so nice when appraised. So I spent a weekend putting all the old parts back on to trash it up as much as possible.I even poured used oil around engine compt to show leaks.I put 2cycle oil in fuel for smoke. It worked, but it made me sick to do it.
Been there,done that....
She told me she wanted either the car or 9k.I said ok then I want you to sell your horses and give me half the cash you get for them. She then told me if I left her horses out of it,she would leave my Stingray out of it.
Best of luck to you.

I was going to suggest doing just that, glad it worked but it sucks you had to resort to that.
