If there is a thread you are interested in, you can just post to it so that you search for all threads you have posted to. I think a split would be a bad thing. How many times have people got on the fourm looking for something and found something of interest they weren't even looking for? Too much knowledge, experience, and helpful people to split it up. I don't really care, I'll keep coming here either way. Just think the way it is now is the best "overall" format. Not looking for a fight or pissing contest, only putting in my $.02.

TAKEN FROM THE C5 SECTION THIS MORNING...
THREAD TITLE... "Question about the Forum "

"questions about car clean up, does that go on general or is there a section just for that?"

ANSWER...
"As far a car clean up...don't post in General. It belongs in the Car Care Forum. Click on the "Forums" tab towards the upper left and move the cursor down to the "General Corvette" tab. The list of Forums that are related will appear to the right. At the bottom of the list is Car Care Products."

SO instead of constantly bitching, you've resorted to a dozen posts full of sarcasm instead.

do you feel better now?

Hmmmm..keep showing info like that and we'll be asking for a Car Care Forum too!

Actually, the question and answer seemed quite reasonable, considering the number of Forums they have for C5. We aren't asking for a whole list of forums, just for one measly tech section.

Since a straight axle was never offered in a C3 do we now ship all those posts over to C3 general or OT since it can't go in the C3 Tech section since technically it was never offered in a C3? Sorry get technical on you but I just want to make sure we follow some type of logic.

maybe we should just recombine C1,2,3,4,5,6 sections back into one big happy family.

I bet that would work great.

The logic for one big forum is just not there.

It just don't make sense.

do you feel better now?
look...you may call it bitching if you would like...
actually i am campaining for what i want in my forum just as you are campaining for what you want in your forum...
i do not want the forum split just as baddly as you want it to split...
isnt it funny how the word "split" has such a negitive ring to it???
i have been a member here for going on 3 years...i think i have every bit the right as you do to argue my point...
we both have that right...
if some of the folks here that feel as i do do not stand up and argue our point, our forum will be split into little pieces by the folks that feel as you do...
are we (I) supposed to just lie down and let our forum be changed against our will???
if the majority wants it then fine but you shouldnt be offended or pissed off that someone is trying to show you another side of the issue...especialy when they are showing fact after fact of what it will be like...

as far as my post of which you speak goes...
just as in many other of my posts i am showing glowing examples of why the split should not be done to OUR forum...
all you folks keep saying is that it will be better...
show us some proof...some fact...as i have...

as i have said before...its as simple as going to the other sections and see how many general posts are in tech and how many tech posts are in general...
ITS THAT SIMPLE...
the hardest part will be to admit that it is true and a split will not really accomplish what you think it will...

as far as your "it will drop out of site" theory goes...
incase you havent noticed...to my knowledge...
this thread has not gone past page 2 since it was originaly posted...
is it that hard to click on the next page?
or would it be easier to fumble thru different sub forums only to find subjects posted in the wrong place anyway...????

...of course this thread hasn't been pushed past the second page because posts with conflict in them seem to stick around...

OK Signguy,

don't think of it as a split. Think of it as getting a cool new section.

Your just not making sense to me. You say click on page 2 to try to find the threads you're interested in. Is that EASIER than clicking on another section? I don't think so. Not for me. And apparently nobody does it much because these good technical threads end up on page 32 and it can take a LONG time to find them.

This is not the same forum as we had last year or the year before. There are a lot more posters and its just getting too congested and chaotic. We need to organize things a bit. Do you put all of your files under your C:\ root directory or do you tend to organize them in a logical fashion.

I see this section getting a lot like the OT section in that there's just too much traffic to keep up unless you are on here 24/7. Its like someone is constantly changing the channels on a TV. I know a few of you are here 24/7 but thats not reality for most of us.

Most of us are ready for a change. I'm looking through the C4,5,6 forums and it appears that the subgroups allow more comrodery amongst members as they can hang out in an area of interest and share those common interests and be able to bond with each other more.

Its a GOOD thing.

Default Split Please!

It sure would make things easier for me if the forum was split up a bit. I basically live here and even with the frequent visits I have a hard time finding things I'm looking for. Moreover, When an urgent need is posted it usually only takes a couple hours to bury it.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "Try something, even if it doesn't work at least you tried something"

Here's my suggestion

1. C3 Parts for sale/free
2. C3 Parts wanted
3. C3 Vettes for sale/wanted
4. C3 Technical chat/OEM
5. C3 Performance/Upgrades/Racing
6. C3 General/Introductions/OT

After reviewing the C4 & C5 sections I can't imagine it would be very difficult to make the split

STW! Platato

Well said turtle!!!!!

To be honest, I think I would always go STRAIGHT to the tech section and would probably NEVER go to the General section. I can't help wondering if that's what the antisplitters are worried about. Not EVERYONE will see their posts about pretty pictures of their new wheels or fancy paint. Sorry...but that crap doesn't interest me in the LEAST! I don't care if a Vette is painted primer grey and has flat black wheels. It's the PERFORMANCE that I care about. I would MUCH rather participate in a discussion of the merits of tunnel ram over fuel injection than whether a certain paint looks "cooler".
And if I have a tech question, it is usually one I am REALLY stumped on and would rather have the tech experts SEE that question and get it answered ASAP, than to have to hit TTT a zillion times just to get it noticed.

As far as the number of non-tech questions in tech areas on OTHER areas of the forum.... WE aren't OTHER AREAS. And all it takes is for a mod to keep up on things to control that.

well...ive gotta say that even tho i am totaly against it, i do realize that as far as the participants in this thread goes, i am definately in the minority...

it is clear to me that there is no use in continuing to present my case and i am cool with that...
i have stated how i feel about what the outcome will be and there isnt really much more that i can say...

i DO feel however that i think that the REAL majority of the total members dont really give a dam either way...
and also that a lot of the people that do not want it changed just simply gave up caring after a few dozen of posts just like this one in the recent past...

i dont know who makes these final desicions...it may be some of you, my opponents in this debate...

but whomever it is should decide soon and either do it or not do it and we should drop it and move on...
either way i will still be around enjoying the forum just as i have for a few years now...
i think that we should all just get back to normal and be a family once again...

besides...if it splits, you know i will be there to say i told you so...

peace to my fellow corvette loving friends...

I think a trail split would be best as well. If it works it works, if not it can be switched back
