Default Carb Rebuild?

Who does everyone use for carb rebuilds?

I did a search and did not find to much info. Saw a few posts about contacting Lars, but I don't know who that would be.

I would like to just get the original Holley rebuilt, also how much should it cost for a rebuild?

Thank in advance

Hi

His name is Lars Grimsrud, he is a forum member and the man for Holley carbs.
If your lucky, he will shime in.
A normal carb rebuild + tune + F/C on one of his cars I think he is asking about 130 USD or so.
I just received a 850 CFM double pumper from him and can't wait to try it out.

Lars, if you see this, I have the carb in Luxembourg. Brought it along during my Seattle visit the 17th Feb.
Unfortunately, I can only try it out once I have installed the T56 Viper trans, so around beginnig of April or so.
Thanks a lot for your outstanding assistance to get this old piece of junk going.

OK, here is his contact info from the froum:

If the carb is in good shape, then you can rebuild it yourself with one of Holley's renew kits for about $20.00. It really isn't difficult even for a "never been down that road" beginner.

Now, the problem with Holley carbs is and always will be warping in the carb body at the metering block flange and warping in the metering block itself. If you have a carb that has been apart before, chances are that there is some warping. This shows up a fuel seepage, poor idle, and generally rich running.

If that's the case, then you'd want to find a shop (plenty on the net) that specializes in Holley rebuilds. They'll fly cut the body and the plates to ensure they're square and flat.

Before you spend the big bucks, though, you'll want to make sure that you have either a correct or original Holley for your LT-1. No point in throwing a lot of money at a carb that's not original to your car when you can buy plenty of substitutes available.

Had mine done a couple of years ago by Pony/Carburetor Works. Back then it cost 280 + 100 for plating. They did a good job.
