Default Drive Train Shake

WIFES 68 VETTE HAS A LITTLE SHIMMY SHAKE WHEN LETTING THE CLUTCH OUT TAKING OFF IN 1st GEAR ITS FINE GOING THROUGH THE REST OF THE GEARS OTHER THAN THAT . IF I BABY IT TAKING OFF IN 1st AND SLIP THE CLUTCH TILL I GET MOVING ITS NOT TOO BAD , BUT IF YOU LET THE CLUTCH OUT SOME WHAT AGGRESSIVELY IT SOUNDS LIKE THE REAR END WANTS TO POUND UP THROUGH THE BACK OF THE CAR, IS THAT LITTLE BUSHING IN FRONT OF THE REAR END BAD OR WHAT ?

Could be the bushing on the rear.....driveshaft might need rebalanced as well as the flywheel. My 72 had the shimmys on take off, shimmied in neutral when you poped the throttle and a vibration at highway cruising. got into it and found the universal joints were tired, the factory balance weight had rusted off and the flywheel was out of balance and needed re-surfaced. Addressed these issues and smooth as silk at 5500 rpm ...or 100mph

I say the finish on the flywheel is a little rough and the clutch is grabbing because of it. The mustang has the same problem and I am going to pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced.
Only happens on takeoff, not any other gear.

Thats What I Was Thinking That It Was In The Clutch And Yes It Is Only When You Take Off Just As You Are Starting To Move And Release The Clutch All The Way. Feels Like The Whole
Rear End Want To Bang Up Through The Rear. So I Thought It Could Be The Rubber Bushing In Front Of The Rear End Pig.

There could be many causes for the shimmys. Here are a few ideas for you, based on stuff I have found wrong on cars over the years...

You might have "hot-spot" glazing on your flywheel. Or you might have a pressure plate with bent fingers - sometimes happens when installing the tranny and letting it sag down and rest while you summon an extra effort to lift it up parallel, line it up, and send it home! When you pull the tranny you'll be able to easily see if either of these is the problem. The flywheel can be dressed at the machine shop, as long as it does not get below recommended thickness. A new clutch disc and pressure plate should go in there after all the trouble of getting the tranny out. Also, use a new throwout bearing and a new pilot bearing.

Another possibility is that the bearings are bad on the input shaft to your tranny. If a Munice, you can pull the access cover and replace that bearing without a rebuild...
