Actually it was 3 reasons, less wieght more stiffness, and better suspension geometry. Im a college student and unfortunately cant put up 5k for a custom frame Looks like Im going to have to just full weld, gusset and rework the suspension

okay, technicalities. to me a frame is two rails runing length of the car, to which the body bolts on with 6-8 bolts or so. On a car with a frame, the engine/tranny is bolted to frame, the rear end is bolted to the frame, and the body is attached on top. On a c5/c6, the "frame" as you call it, is bolted to the engine/transaxle. To me that isn't a frame, but that is just my opinion for what it is worth (or isn't worth )
I just think of it differently, I also don't think of the birdcage as part of the frame, but part of the body. Oh well, I'll get off this thread
It has to be a custom job. My neighbor is doing the same thing using a '69 Mustang steel shell and Z06 front-to-rear drivetrain. Basically a tubeframe car with a body draped over it. Very cool, but a ton of work. I'll take a picture tonight.
