Looks like I had a successful time panning for gold in my TH350's pan. Quite a bit of mettalic dust in my pan, stuck to the filter, primarily ferrous (reacts to magnet) Not nearly the spoon-full that they say necessitates a rebuild, but what's the deal? I completely rebuilt this transmission about 10k ago, but it was my understanding that no breakin was necessary, so this stuff is worrying. Some of it is really dust/flake like, but a few of the longer (1/4"?) flakes are substantial enough to be hard to bend. Nothing gravelly or chunk-like fortunately.
The symptoms, as I talked about in my last thread, are that I have reverse, and 1st, will not shift up. Replaced vacuum modulator, verified good condition of governor (found one small metal shard in there)
I'm not a tranny expert by any means, but it sounds like you need to do a line pressure check. Low pressure would not fully engage the clutches which would create a lot of wear like you're seeing. No reverse could be that debri found its way into the valve body.
Fluid and filter changed, cooler flushed. Somehow I knew that wouldn't work, and I was right. Will do the line pressure check next, thanks for the advice.
