Front emblem
Is the front emblem for the 1981 the same as the 1980? I see the 80 and 82 emblem at Zip's but not the 81.

Looking at the ecklers magizine and the 80 and 81 have the same front emblem except that the 81 has a black edge and the 80 has a chrome edge. Ecklers no longer sells the 81 emblem. It also looks the same way for the fuel door. Ecklers sells them for 36.99. Might have some luck on ebay.

The "V" is wider on the 81 than on the 80.....I just compared them to make sure. Not much difference though, and most wouldn't know the difference, even if they knew what they were looking at.

Nobody has the correct '81 front emblem in stock. Nobody reproduces them at this time. I have been searching flea markets for months and have turned up nothing yet but the hunt is really fun. 
At all the events I have been to where there are many suppliers selling, the space on their displays for '81 front emblems are all empty and they all say the same thing; "none left". Just keep looking everywhere and you'll eventually find one (and I will too)!

Hi Guys!
I have one extra NOS front emblem for the 81 hidden away in a box, in a safe, in a cave, under my house. When I purchased my Vette, the emblem was missing so I hunted down and bought two. A second mortgage on the house (and the cave) and the transfer of my first born child and I owned them both.
One went on the car and the other is in storage. My thought was that if i ever had to re-paint, I'd use the second one instead of recycling the one on the car. Then I could put the used but perfect emblem on Ebay etc.
Ok, here's what I'm thinking. I might (MIGHT) be convinced into letting the extra one go on trade. I have a list over in the for sale section if you want to check it out. It's titled
WANTED DELCO FREEDOM II BATTERY + more
It's probably on page two or three right now but it's there. I look forward to hearing from you!
