A convertible with a hard top installed is just as functional as a coupe w/ T-tops. Al comes down to personal taste.

I'd rather have a vert too.

Beats me. The coupe is more rigid than a vert. Someone who is interested in serious performance would not buy a vert.

Fact is Verts can be fast as well, how man LeManns winning cars 2004 models included have no roof?

Would you say a Shelby AC Cobra is not a "serious performance car"?

Given the choice of a coupe or vert, i'm saying you are either more concerned about bleaching your teeth and getting a tan ( cali types ) or more concerned about performance, thats all. Them narley roll bars you need for the verts get in the way of the hair doo as well.

When it comes to all out racing, once you've put a roll cage in, it makes no difference.

I wanted a convertible, my wife talked me into a coupe, I hate to admit it, she was right. With rear window out and tops off, it is a convertible, but I can button up when too cool for no top, which is a lot of the time in San Diego... Yes I know this is a desert, but our normal temp is about 60 degrees.

Happy Coupe owner!!!

I own 2 verts!

To me these cars are strictly summer/fun cars, it would make no sence to buy a coupe unless i started dragracing.

People saying that the coupe, with the tops off and rear window out, gives the same feeling as a topless vert obviously never driven one..

The best of both worlds, a 62 with both tops. Hard and soft to fit my desire. One minute it`s a coupe, and 5 minutes later it`s a roadster.

I've heard the color called "bronze" and "root-beer". I call it "dog-doo".

Triple silver...if I keep it.

No offense but to me if it's a vette it has to be a vert. I wish they were like miatas only come in verts...IMO they look way better in verts, its a VETTE thing, much more fun.

just no reason for me to want a coupe, only coupe thats ever been in this family was a 79 and ofcourse there wasn't a vert option way back in 79 when my dad bought it.

I prefer the coupe, as far as looks go. I've had 7 of them. I just love those sail panels and sugar scoop look of the 68 to 72 style.

But for convertibles, there is no better looking model than the 68 thru 72 years, especially with the hardtop on, that body style rocks!!!!!!!!!\\

I believe the '68 thru '72 year convertibles are by far the best looking body style of any Corvettes produced.

But for sheer down right sexyness, the 68 thru 72 coupe is BODY BEAUTIFUL.

Since the C5 started from a clean sheet design as a convertible, it makes sense that it looks awesome as a convertible. I have one and I'm partial. Just about everyone I know who has a convertible will drop the top on any given chance they can. I guess if they regretted their decision, they would probably have the top up on nice sunny day. I just don't see it that often, but again, I'm on the MS gulf coast.

I haven't been on here much over the last few months. Gotta say I love, ahem, Paul Borowski's avatar! That said, when I went looking for a Vette, I only looked at '68-'72 Vert's. Nothing wrong with the coupe's, they have great lines, but I wanted a convertible as it's a summer driven car and looks great with the top down. I also figured it would hold it's value better, but that was a secondary concern.
