Carl, loved your pictures...but had to laugh. My wife basically rolled her eyes because there's obviously other guys who have car parts all over the house too! Let your wife know that she sympathizes.

I've purchased the leather dye spray can from Ecklers but am curious...are you supposed to use a primer coat before using the dye spray. If so, is there any place I can pick this up locally. Does it matter if it's metal, leather, plastic....etc.?

i never primed... now you might notice, that the part you dye comes out like a semi gloss finish,,,,,them with the very same paint can the next piece comes out flat,,,a lot of guys were saying thats cuz the cans of paint are from different lots....but not when this happens from the same can!!! the reason it does this is simple,,,different materials that you dye will take differently to the dye,,,some will allow a small shine others wont,,,depends on the material,,,so to solve this problem what i did was simple,,,i clear coated the parts after the dye dried and they all matched-tip of the day!!

Here are pictures, they are obvious if you are looking for them, but to the casual observer they look like they belong there. Black helps, too, I guess. Joe

I think the fact that it's black sure helps joe, unfortunately i have silver therefore i think it will be a bit more obvious. Carl..... or anyone for that matter, before dying the interior parts, how do you clean, or should I say prepare the vinyl, and or leather?

I use Ivory bar soap to clean vinyl and leather before dying, it only contains soap (no oils, moisterizers, etc.).
