I am replacing the ignition switch on top of the steering column and I need to get the column down far enough to replace it. I have the two bolts out under the cover, and the two bolts that go through the firewall. The thing will not drop down more than 1-1.5 inches.
The bottom plate is mounted to the coloumn, if you take the plate off on the firewall side (where the reverse lock out cable attaches) the coloumn shoudl drop more.
From experience I had to split the rag joint to get it down far enuff.
