The Peformer intake will accept a QJet as a bolt on. I'd recommend trying one of Lars loaner QJets -- send him an email. A Lars carb WILL make you smile!
Not mine....My bolt pattern isn't even close......another dead end.....
look at the bright side ....you know where your money is....
Yep, soon to be sitting on the shelf......but, at least it's just "time" and not money doing all these redo's. Gotta learn somehow.......and this has been a stiff learning curve. Gotta say though, I think I can now remove the distrib., carb, and intake blindfolded......Probably work as well....
hey man, how did the gasket look on the intake??? see anything that looks like it may have been leak'n??? oil, air, water?
if so, that was your problem, or part of it anyway.
Not much hooker, but there was some oil on top of the gasket outside the port areas. End seals and water ports looked good. Oh, and I had to pull the EB valve covers to remove the intake, something I didn't have to do with the old valve covers.
The bolts from the intake were crusty and black and smelled like burnt death. I'm going to pull the plugs and check them. Looks like I have been having some severe combustion. The two center ports on the intake were covered on the inside with a black soot. It smelled like a gas/oil burnt mixture. Nasty....
Looks like another oil change and plugs are needed.....
I need to get that carb....got tied up yesterday with the removal, and some late business. PM me you cell phone please....

that's prob'ly from the fire you were see'n shoot'n out the carb.
and the gasket looked like it was sealed good between there?
if it was blown out there from the fire's you had i'ed say that was your problem.
The intake gasket wasn't sticking very good in the middle section when I removed it. Came off quite easy in fact. Used a gasket glue, and RTV on the ends, and around water ports. Followed the instructions, but I may have not let the gaskets set up long enough before installing the intake.
I am going to be slow and deliberate this time....

Are you talking about the EGR passages? If so, that's normal if they weren't blocked off. However, most people block them off when they put a perf. intake on.

It's the two opposite each other in the dead center of the intake. The gaskets have plates (over the center ports) with round holes in them over the ports.
