I am toying with the idea of a couple of brackets to tie the roof hoop of my roll cage to the birdcage for added stiffness since I have no T in my T-Top. I will likely use a couple of 1/4-20 rivnuts or 1/4 stainless rivets per bracket for the bird cage and weld to the hoop.
Was in the area and visited VBP and Van Steel last week. These are busy places.
Picked up some VBP aluminum hubs and sport rotors and a set of HD offset trailing arms from Van Steel before the powder coating to build the 6 link from. The quality for both was exceptional!
I would half to say nay for a number of reasons the best of witch being your car was designed to flex in the frame and body so if you half to jack your car up you may do alot of damage possibly break your window, and it may warp anyways if you drive in the city and create problems elsewhere.that is if it is a true roll cage set up bolted or welded to the frame not the cage.but then again id half to see the set up post some pics..
It's a 14 point set up welded to the frame made from 1 5/8" X 0.134" wall tube...
look at some pics under my photo.
I can move the birdcage by hand and get it to flex. It's a 71 and I have replaced the body mounts and they are solid. I have inspected the bird cage and it is solid... no rust.
Since the center bar on top is missing I figured that the roll cage would be a good substitute ?
