The glide is a good idea if you can make enough power to pull the gear. How much power? That small block will make 1000 hp if you want it to.
My engine is built for up to a 250 shot of NOS... However, if I'll install NOS on the engine, it'll be only a 150 shot.. That should be enough for 9's...
Still haven't made up my mind if I'm going to spray or not... I won't get the car into 9's without spray... With a intake change, a 2 inch spacer and a Dominator carb, I should be able to get into the 10.40 - 10.50 range on engine on a cool winter day (we don't have cold winter days here)...

I just don't think it is neccasary to start all over agin with a big block. I do not know what the internalls of your motor are but since it is sorta a budget deal I would imagine Eagle, etc. That is not a bad thing, just a thing to think about when you decide to go faster. I know of a lot of VERY fast cars with Eagle crank and rods. Just check them real good before assembly.
Just talking out loud but aluminum rods, 18* heads, Super Victor, 13.5 to 1, Dominator, Glide and a 350-400 hit (Fogger) off the transbrake would make for a fast ride. That combo in a 400-406 in. Small block would make well over 1000 hp. Probably close to 1100.

Better get some wheelie bars
That could work too.. but I doubt that a setup like this would last as long as a blown big block.. I also love the looks of the blower sticking out of the hood

Ya, I hear ya. I have got to get this 454 to the track (once the struts come back) I have a high compression 555 about half done (Block, rods, rings, crank) Once I get the 454 pretty much figured out I will get the 555 done and to the track. The car should go an easy high 7 (full tube frame, big tire 33x16, chassis car) with a moderate shot of nos. My buddies Barreta went 7.9's with an almost identical motor; conventional head 555, 15 to 1, (no nos).
If I get bored with the 555 I would love to try a fuel injected big bore small stroke (4.56-4.6 x 3.5-3.76) single or dual turbo car. I would not go to crazy since the chassis is only good to 7.5, but 15-1800 hp would be fun.

That sounds like a fun setup!!
I'm not intending to go 7's.. but 8's would be nice at one point.... It'll still be about 2 years before I'll be getting serious about changing my setup..
This guy i know and he also rents a shop by me likes to spend alot of money on motors.its going to be around 700 cubic inches high compression and maybe nitrous. he doesnt even have a car for it.

If it hooked with my stock rear i wonder what it would do. probally break the driveshaft or something easy to fix.His blower car he has about 80k in the motor it does a wheelie about 6 inches of the ground thw whole way down the track. his cars and trucks go on and on. he inherited like a few million from his dad when he died.
