Default Brakes

I need to change my brakes pretty soon and i was wondering if anyone knew if the brake calipers on the newer vettes would work on a 79. You know the ones that say Corvette on them, i think that would be sick looking if there was some way to put them on a 79. Thanks.

Anything is possible with fabrication and $$$. They will not just bolt onto the C3 mounting bracket. I think some here have installed C5 brakes on the C3 car.

You can do it, but there is a lot involved. I did this last year and I am still working out all the details. There are several issues that need to be tackled. First, The calipers will not just bolt on and need to have custom brackets made for them. Either the rotors or hubs need to be machined to allow them to be mated together. Then you need new rubber/ stainless braided lines. For the rear you have all the same issues as well as no parking brake. You also need to change your master cylinder to a C5 master to compensate for the smaller pistons in the calipers.

This is far from a bolton installation and when I am done, my brakes will be mathematically 135% of stock.

this might be alot to ask. but i was wondering if you could go in detail on what you did. i kinda figured things would have to get fabricated, i just know exactly what you mean. thanks

did you figure out how much weight you saved by doing this change over?
