Finally got her running!! The spark plugs wires were in the wrong sequence on the distributor. But now she is running rough as hell. The guys at the shop said it could be a issue with using carbureted heads with fuel injection. The say its a no, no. Any suggestions?

Thanks

what happened msn turned off,go look on passenger sideof harness and check for the timing connector an d disconnect it then set timing to 6-8 degrees then shut off car reconnect it the start back up. also check all plugs and set plug gaps to 45.also check fuel pressure for 38-42lbs. and as far as the heads i have older world products sportsman 2 heads for a carb and they work ffine.

Fire, on that 'heads' comment about not working, them guys have NO CLUE, the heads are fine....NOT an issue....

I would check timing, the thing should be running off the scale maybe even dancing around a bit at nearly 40* or so...with timing wire disconnected, it should be set as suggested...6-8 degrees, but not more than that....and there should be a steady normal reading there, NO JITTER as the conversation between distrib and computer is over with, so it reverts to base advance....
reconnect timing wire, and restart engine

I personally find the easiest way to install the dist in any car...
find the index where you want it with rotor pointing to just before #1 plug... #1 piston at TDC on compression stroke...and when I do this, I cheat a bit....pull #1 plug put my finger over the hole, and get a sense of 'timing' to stop cranking when piston puts out pressure....then move the crank with vice grips on the flywheel to feel really well when piston is at TDC...using a long piece of coathanger you get a buddy to help, i'ts easy...
this proves the damper is in face correct....
I don't worry about the oil pump, just flop the damn thing in there and hit the starter a bump or so, it then flops down and works nice....

Disconnect spout connector (usually single brown wire with a weatherpack connector). Start car. Adjust timing with a light. Turn off car. Re-connect spout connector. Done
