What is the factory redline for a 454? 5500?

Which one? My 71 LS-5 was 5600. I'm sure the LS-6 was higher.

Non factory. Generic 1974 454 2 bolt. Just looking for sorta max stock RPM for cam choice. No since running a cam that starts making the oomph at 6K and above.

Any 454 short block is good for an occasional blast to 6k. If it is a cast crank 2 bolt block I'd make the 6k very occasional. Forged crank, 2-bolt should be fine.
