Composite Spring ?

Composite Spring ?
Can I put a 2 1/4" composite spring on a 2 1/2" mount. My 2 1/4" steel spring has winged spacers on the front/back and the composite spring does not allow that. Can I put something around the bolts to space the spring evenly?

Is the problem with the thickness of the spring? You could go to a hardware store and pick up some aluminum stock 1/8" thick and the same or a little thinner than the composite spring and then shape them to fit. I dont know if this is the problem but it may help.
