The LS1 marked the Gen III SBC and its displacement is 346 and almost entirely different than Gen I and II. IIRC the LS engines are 6 bolt mains, made out of aluminum, and have an advanced version of the vortec head design. I don't remember the other changes, but they're extremely different and you can't interchange any parts with them and prior SBCs.
Theres a lt-1 in our local junkyard

Good luck. When you're done, the end result is worth all of the work.

It would be a serious job but if you could pull it off it would be one Kick a$$ Shark.Great performance, better mileage, cleaner burning.Im pretty sure the C3 drive train would be OK handling 500HP.As long as its been refreshed and isnt in need of a rebuild.

The 2005 Z06 engine will be sold as a crate engine from GM Performance Parts! Does anyone know how much it'll cost? If it's going to be a crate engine, GM should have a little helpful information about how to get it into you car; i.e. the computer intefaces.
