I've got the brass radiator in my 73. The BeKool radiators & such advertise upto a 40% wt. savings with the alum. radiator. How much wt. are we talking about? thanks
I went with a be cool, don't remember the number from it,supposed to have fit in a vette,it did but with modifcations to core support and hood. I gained weight with the upgrade.went from a small block radaitor to a radiator that just slips in between the inner fenders. Then, ?? ( I think) this holds a lot more coolant = more weight. but as i said in another thread it seems to run under 160 degrees, with a electric 16" puller so i will live with this.
I doubt that it's very much. I also have a '71 L-48 coupe that had an aluminum radiator that started leaking and I couldn't get it fixed. Had installed a copper/brass unit of same capacity and things are fine now. There's probably a little more weight on the front end but I don't notice it.
substantially less than just the 5 core by itself. It was by some too - probably only 4-5 pounds, but enough to make it noticeably easier moving around the garage the day between when I was recently doing the swap. Then, factor in no more original shroud, which is a few pounds, and no flex fan and adapter (or more for a clutched fan) and it's not a tiny amount - maybe 7-10 pounds even, I'm not sure.
It's not a massive amount by itself, but probably something between the difference between say, tubular aframe arms vs. stamped and fiber monospring vs. two coils, but it is way far forward of the center point so it will affect weight distribution a little. (Probably not as much as my stupid unneeded SSBC vacuum pump in the nose cone I was sure I'd need with this cam.... )

I can answer that....An aluminum radiator of equal size is be about a pound short of 1/2 the weight. The 73 copper radiator is 27.5" long and it's the biggest radiator ever installed in a Corvette. I think the original weighs about 28 lbs and the aluminum model is be about 15lbs. It's not a big deal on the wieght savings but the cooling is really much better.
