Default Rear Bearing?

I Have A Rubbing Sound Coming From My Passenger Rear Wheel, The Sound Is The Same With And Without Using The Brakes. The Faster The Speed The More Sound It Makes. Any Ideas? Is It A Tough Job To Change Bearing?

Could be parking brake, or maybe the bearings....special tools are required to set up the bearings properly...easy for some, difficult for others.....

Here's my guide to how to rebuild a trailing arm (including bearings).

What's wrong with your shift key?

I don't think anything is wrong with it, he is just that he has to YELL over the noise his bearing is making!

All joking aside, you might want to jack the car up and give the back wheel a feel. Check to see if there is any wiggle in it up/down/side/ etc. There should be none. Roll it around and see if the sound is there when the load is off.

You could have a bad bearing, parking brake, brake pad, e-brake cable could have snapped and is on the inside of the rim. You could have a bad U-joint. They will make a sound once the grease dries up and the bearings start to fail. You will really have to isolate one thing at a time until you locate the noise.

The wheel bearing is a pain in the butt. I rebuilt my own, but I would encourage others that don't have the tools, resources, or time to simply ship off to Van steel or VB&P for new ones.

Also, if you conclude it is a wheel bearing, consider doing both trailing arms together as the other is sure to go soon too.

Good luck!

with all that ... plus I would add that it could also be a
worn differential side yoke. As they wear down, the dust shield starts to rub the casing.

If it's the trailing arm/Wheel bearings...Van Steel should be your friend. Went through this a few months ago...

I doubt its the spindle/bearings since I never heard my right one making noise. Could just be my noisy car though. I did find out the wheel will move, can't see it but you can hear it. Rocking it by hand off the ground.

Probably the parking brake or even the caliper brake and hopefully it is.
