Where do I hook up timing light and what is correct setting ???

You hook the red clip up to a power source (I use the battery terminal on the alternator) and the black clip to the ground. The spark plug wire clip should be put on the #1 spark plug wire as close to the spark plug as possible (#1 is front of the block, driver's side). You probably want to be around 8 degrees advance. There should be a sticker somewhere in the engine compartment showing stock advance and at what RPM. Also, look up Lars' white paper for timing procedure. That's full of good information. Just follow the procedure for an HEI distributor, which I assume your engine has.
