Before I spend bucketloads of money on new suspension, steering, roll cage etc, I'd like to do some basic measurements to make sure my frame is pretty close to square. Any suggestions on what measurements and what landmarks to use.
My manuals say to pick identical landmarks on the frame rails and measure an X pattern. Anything within 3/16" is supposed to be okay. Any thoughts? I know I could take it to a frame shop, but I wanted to do some checking on my own first.
The easiest part of the Corvette frame to get damaged is the front frame extensions, just ahead of the front cross-member. (The front sway bar brackets bolt up to it.) Look for tears and/or wrinkles in the frame at that point. Other than that, use the cross-check and heights at similar points, if you have a lever floor.
