Default Crossfire injection

I have a frend who is considering the purchase of a low mile 1982 vette. Are there any reliability issues with the injected cars vs. the 4 barrel cars. Are there any other problems relating to late c3s that I should make my friend aware of? I already told him to look for frame rust, leaking power steering and brakes.

The '82 Crossfire is fine as long as it's tuned and in good shape, just like any car with a carb. It gets good gas milage, starts right up, only comes with auto w/ overdrive, it's the best C3 for cruising. Everyone I know that has one likes it.

Once I got my throttle bodies balanced I liked it a whole lot better. The basic tuneup is a must. Replace ALL the vacuum lines not just the ones that look bad and vacuum routing diagrams are your friend. One line in the wrong spot caused me a lot of problems. Not really much different than any other car though. It starts better than my carbed car did and if I would keep my foot off of the floor it would probably get good gas mileage too.

The only weakness I've heard of with cross fire is that the ecm isn't as water proof as the newer ecms. Turbo City in Anaheim, Ca. put together a kit to run cross fire systems on either the 773 tpi ecm or the 7727 water proof, under hood style ecm. I heard that they diidn't get enough interest to continue it. If anyone has problems with a cross fire ecm, it might be an option. The cross fire parts are pretty much discontinued, and I don't know if the ecm is available still.

It always ran great before I repalced it. Good for everday cruising, but not if you want to have more then 300 HP.

no wonder there's no interest, theyw ere just selling a 1227747 TBI ECM with a crummy prom and no harness adapter so you have to cut the original wiring, where others are selling harness adapters (convert from pin to edge card connector) and a 7747 ecm can be bought new for less than they charge for theirs. It's a very common and hacked ECM, the complete code is available free on the net so they are selling stuff that's free on the internet. There's also the late f body ECM w/ the lean cruise, however none of them are weatherpack ECMs...no need since it sits inside the car anyway.

Love ours. Runs strong. Starts instantly. Great mileage. Great cruiser and nicely quick.

When I got mine, it had been in storage and the PS leaked a puddle in a day. After driving it for about 50 miles, it stopped. Common storage illness. Same with the brakes. Try to pump them every few weeks when in storage (remember - I'm in Michigan). If those items haven't been maintained, consider it in the offer, then fix-em. Not too expensive for seals and such.

I replaced my ECM, no problem getting one. I also replaced all the sensors and now it runs great. I went from NJ to Ohio last month, 65-70MPH for 8 hours each way and it ran perfect and got 24 mpg. Can't beat that.
