Paint Issues
Just had my '73 vert painted a few months ago, looks great. Just after I got it back from the shop, someone backed into the pointed part of the front urethane skin over the bumper. No real damage but some slight cracking and "spider webbing" near the pointed area. Is there a way to fix this without a new paint job for the nose? I'm thinking polishing or rubbing compound with some touch-up paint. I can't tell if the paint cracks go all the way through but the urethane itself isn't cracked. It's not so bad that I can't live with it, but if I can fix it without making it worse, I'd go for it.

The urethane cover will probably have to be removed and refinished. What you are seeing is the result of the paint not being as flexible as the urethane. When it is bumped the urethane gives but the paint doesn't. Anything less than refinishing the bumper will probably not look right and will probably fail very soon after the repair. Sorry.
