81 Corvette Air Conditioner problem
The AC on my 81 Vette wont cool unless the heater core is by-passed, i replaced the heater control valve & nothing changed, all inside controls work proper, floor, vent, hot, cold, defrost, the system is cooling only to 70 degrees but when heater core is by-passed it cools to 40 degrees; any suggestions ???

Make sure the water valve is getting vacuum when the heater lever is off.
Make sure the water valve is installed correctly--there is a flow arrow on it.
Make sure the heater door is closing fully--pull the fan resistor bank and you can see this door in operation.

Remove the glove box and you will see the linkage that moves with your hot-cold lever.When lever is all the way over to cold there is a metal contact there that operates a vacuum switch, adjust ( bend ) the tab so the switch is depressed a little before your lever is at the full cold position.
