Folks, got a question.
Have my 71 jacked up to check for a minor leak in the tranny area. It's on 4 jack stands. With the rear wheels "hanging", should there be any movement of the wheel, caliper, shock mount assembly? As in "grabbing the wheel at the top and bottom and moving it slightly up and down? Or should it be completely tight other than "rotation of the wheel"?
Thanks
There will be some wheel bearing play and some side yoke end-play. Kind of subjective but anything over 1/4 inch at the tire edge might need looking at.
Specifically look at the yokes and make sure they're not going into the rear. Just check for about a 1/4" there. If there is excessive movement, you will need at least a new pair of seals possible yokes-AT LEAST.
