Default Tach drive distributor

I just got a tach drive distributor for my 74 vette. How do yoy take apart the tach drive assy? The manuel just says to take it apart but it does'nt say how. It looks like it is pressed together in the pictures. Thanks

Is this a stock GM tach drive distributor? If so, there will be a slotted, brass coupling on the casting. You should be able to unthread this coupling. Behind the coupling, you will find the tach cross drive gear.

Both the stock unit and the MSD tach drive simply unscrew out of the distributor housing.

I use a 1" puty knife on edge to unscrew the coupler. Works 99% of the time.
