Default question for those with electric choke

i never had a carb with electric choke, so i was wondering where everyone has the hot wire running to because the instructions say not to hook it up to the positive side of the coil but that is the closest hot that i can find under the hood that is turned on with the ignition switch.

If you plug it into the pos side of the coil you will be giving yourself problems with the ignition you may not notice but power and fuel mileage will suffer. Just find a switched power supply and run your wire to it. The fuse panel is to the outside of the steering shaft in the engine bay and all the wires in the car go to that area at some point so finding a switched power supply wire there shouldnt be too difficult. Wiper motor power or a/c blower motor power are two switched power supplies.

Wiper motor. The other good source is the "IGN" spare terminal on the fusebox, but then you need to go through the firewall.

thanks for the replys, while i have your attention lars - im putting a new edelbrock 1406 600cfm on a stock '78 L48, is there any thing i need to be aware of or any special tuning i need to do. everything i have read has said that they are almost ready to go staight out of the box. i have already removed the egr valve and making a block off plate and getting a new air filter so it will fit under the stock hood.
