Default Speedometer Help

350/4spd. Used the archives and troubleshot with the drill on cable end that plugs into tranny, when cable spun the speedometer indicator works, next.....jacked up rear end and turned wheels, speedogear end that comes out of tranny spins. Connect it all back together and take her for a ride and speedo doesn't budge. What am I missing?

P.S. all the other gauges are working

Is the cable end that goes into the speedo gear rounded off. Is the plastic gear in the trans rounded off. They should be square.

Does your vette have cruise control?

I think I may have a similar issue with my speedometer. From what little troubleshooting I've done, the problem seems to be in the little gear box thing that the speedo goes into.

No cruise control, I will check to make sure the hole on the gear end coming out of the tranny is not rounded.

I think I may have found the issue, my speedo cable has a 90 degree drive adapter, 1: 0.866 ratio, it was on there when I got the car, looks like the end that the speedocable plugs into (the square female hole which obtw is metal) is cracked on one side, I think this may be the issue that is preventing the speedocable from spinning. I am going to crimp it and see if it fixes the issue. Thanks for the help.
