Default Replacement accelerator cable for a '74

Here is my dilemma:

I have the stock Q-Jet on the car. I need to get a replacement accelerator cable, since the cable is fraying and is severely stretched.

However, nobody carries the accelerator cable for the '74 anymore! Eckler's has it discontinued, Zip doesn't have a listing for it (It jumps from '73 to '75)...

What I'm wondering is, can I take an accelerator cable and bracket from say, a '75, and connect that to the '74's carburetor, or is the cable going to be a different length/not the right end fitting/wrong diameter to fit through the firewall, etc?

Anyone have any ideas?

Use a Lokar cable, available from Summit. Easy install and it looks nice.

I was thinking about that, except that Lokar cables come in different lengths...Anyone know what the proper length is for the cable?

36" cable?

You can adjust the length on the Lokar cable. You cut it to make it fit. Not a big deal. I have Lokar on mine and it was easy enough to do. Hardest part is the connecting to the gas pedal itself.

Doug,

You might want to give Paragon a call... they carry a lot of discontinued items as well as some used parts, particularly hard to find parts.

Good luck... GUSTO
