Not sure what you mean by "work better than the GM one", but there are exact reproduction harnesses available from Lectric Limited.
When I put the new engine in my 73 last year I replaced the engine, headlight, and AC harnesses. They fit perfectly and work 1000 times better than the 32 year old original ones.

Same harnesses are also available through most of the vendors who sell C3 parts (mine actually came from volunteer vette).

Just got my forward lamp harness, bucket ext. harness and ignition harness from Corvette Central. They are made by Lectric Limited. I mocked them in the other day and they fit great. All connectors fit perfect. Wiring is exactly cut like the original. All colors of wires match. All in all I'm happy with mine.
