Default Frame-Off question???

Do the doors need to be removed prior to the body being removed?

There are many pictures displaying the doors removed and having the X-support for ragtops. Do the doors provide enough support prevent the body from flexing.

I have lifted vert bodies with the doors on and open with no problem. I keep some wieght on the nose with a rope on the radiator support. I use the standard sling sold by vendors with some changes.

I use two chain falls one over each door. I cut the lifting sling and made 4 short slings. They have a loop one one end and the clip to go under rocker rail on the other that come to the top of the door. Had them sewed back up.I then have a 1" pipe the length of the rocker rail. I made collars out of 1 and 1/4" pipe drilled and taped for set screws and 6 large washers 6 collars on each pipe. When assembled you can move the lift point for balance any place along the pipe. I make the front end so I can lift (100 pounds) it with the middle starting up. This way I know it can't tip and fall out. This method will work with low ceilings.
