Most C5 guys that do heads/cam are practucally giving away their stock stuff. If anyone is interested I have stock heads, VC's and cam for $100. I just sold the intake and exhaust manifolds on ebay for less than $60.

Make sure they are the right ones. Early LS1's use a perimeter VC, late models are center bolt. I ended up using 6.0L truck VC's on my C5 when I swapped heads.

Pat, Some of the guys on LS1tech make a simple L bracket to relocate the coils to the back of the head. Then they run traditional spark plug wires. The motor then looks like an old school V8. No need for coil cover to hide the ugly coils and you can paint the VC blue.

Has anyone found a straight water thermostat housing cover yet? I have a parts guy I deal with at a local Chevrolet dealership checking if any other Chevrolet engines share the same dimensions. The truck V8's all angle out to the side. If I can't find any, I will cut and TIG.

Did Matt ever figure out where his came from? We ruled out a Trailblazer. How about Caddies, has anyone pull the thermo from the V series?

Pat, You going to spray this one?

CSR performance sells one for $35. It uses a standard SBC thermostat. I might try one when I install the new waterpump.

Pat, I hope it is a fluke, but my waterpump started squealing with only 50K miles. New ones are around $200.

If you guys are looking for take offs, contact some of the supporting tuners. These guys routinely take low mile parts off of customer cars and get rid of them.

Nope, but that one from CSR looks slick. I may order one just to get rid of the unknown housing that I have on my car. I never really liked the idea of the integrated housing and thermostat.

I know that they changed the waterpump for '04 in the Corvettes. The CTSv may have that same WP.

The guys on LS1tech were saying it uses a standard SBC thermostat. That would be cool. I may have to get one, too, just to get rid of my welded one (blue of course).
