window regulator repair

1. Remove the door panel.
2. You will need to have two pieces of plastic pipe about 12 inches long. (1/2 or 3/4') to hold the window in the up position. You can stick the pipe into two holes at the top of the inner door skin that will allow the bottom of the glass window to rest on them. You may have to wedge the pipe in and tape or bundy them to give you the needed support.
3. Unplug the motor power.
4. Take a 7/16's socket and remove the three bolts that attach the regulator / motor to the inner door skin.
5. You can now slide the regulator / motor assembly off of the lower window bracket.
6. The unit should slip right out through the hole on the inner skin.
7. If you have trouble getting the assembly out you can plug the motor back in (Ground the unit.) and adjust it until it will come out.
8. Make a drawing of how the regulator and spring are attached before you start working on it. If you put the spring on backward it wil creep up and fly down.
Hope this helps

I know its a little nerve racking originally when dealing with the regulator and motor. As you do it though you will find its quit straight forward.
FWIW you can get the motor out easily without removing the regulator. Just remove the door panel, then the access port at the bottom, unplug the power, undo the bolts, out it comes. Make sure you jam something between the glass and frame to hold the window up.
If you want to take everything out (I did). You need to remove the rivits that hold the regulator in place. Use bolts with lock nuts when reinstalling.
