Recurve kit question....

Recurve kit question....
Are HEI recurve kits year specific? I've looked for them in the local parts stores and all I'm finding are kits for HEI's up to 1979. If we're only using the springs, does it really matter what year we get? By the way, my car is a 1980. Is there a version for that year? Thanks for the info!

As far as I know they are not year specific..........and according to Lars the weights in the HEI kits are no good. If the springs in both kits (HEI and points) are the same, and I think they are, you may do just as well getting the springs only kit.

If you get an Accel spring kit (Advance Auto Parts) here are the item numbers:
