Default Should C3 Forum split ?

I saw a short post in the new software thread that requested a C3 technical forum. The person requesting it stated that technical questions are pushed to the bottom of the page because new general threads are being posted, and the technical questions are being missed.

In my opinion, I would not like to see a technical C3 forum split from the general forum. First, all the technical gurus would hang out there and the C3 forum in general would suffer. In my experience, when a technical question is asked, one of the C3 experts replies in a very timely manner. If the technical question isn't answered, someone usually posts, "Yeah, I always wanted to know that too." This response drives the topic back to the top of the page. If the poster needs an immediate response, they usually do a ttt to get it back to the top.

I enjoy reading both type of threads, and really don't want to jump back and forth. When I have been in a frustrating fix, needing technical advise, I lost a lot of my frustration by reading the I almost got a ticket threads while waiting for my technical question to be answered. I find the C3 forum the most informative & friendliest of all the forum. I hate to see it change in any manner at all.

What do you think? Should it split to a General & Technical forum? Do you think it will damage the overall cohesiveness that the C3 forum has now?

I agree with you Wanderer. One section, tech and general. Sort of a 2 ring circus under one roof. I usually stay in this section anyway.

Keep it all together.

It's easy enough to skip the nonsense (at least some of it is....) and get to the meat & potatoes stuff.

Besides, a little "general" stuff mixed in won't kill the technical responses.

Wanderer, if you have a C3 technical question, check out the new "Factory Correct Resto" section. We are starving for technical questions over there.

There is also some general discussion, but it's because we don't have any technical questions to answer. I'm not trying to cause dissention in th family here, but it is an alternative to splitting up C3. :yesnod:

I like the forum the way it is, altough i'd have to question the notion that general threads are pushing technical threads down. From my experience here, there aren't that many general threads. Most are technical and about boring stuff that i know nothing about. Thats why i often spend time in Off Topic. I think this forum needs more genral threads. Because all the smart guys answer all the technical threads throughly and quickly anyway. IMHO  :seeya

so far... it looks like 100% for leaving it the way it is. I wish I would have made this a poll thing.

Thanks for all your replies.

Let's keep the forum together. I don't notice tech questions going to the bottom...wait, maybe that means I'm looking at the forum too much? Is there such a thing as too much when it comes to vettes? I guess there is too much forum and that is when I could be driving. Okay, I think I got it straight now.

Well, for the technical stuff, the resto guys can now go to the factory correct resto section, and the hot rodders could always go to engine mods and aftermarket parts. Then again, we can all hang out together here.

Ok, I'll admit to being one of the guys that brought this up in that thread the other day. :o Sometimes, the more difficult questions seem to drop out of sight pretty quickly. It was just a suggestion to make sure that myself and others get the info we're seeking. Besides, isn't answering ones own post with TTT the same as talking to yourself? :D Since it seems that I am in the minority on this subject, I'll withdrawl my suggestion if everyone promises to scroll down to the bottom every once in a while:D

Tom

I think it should stay as is !

Its great picking up tech tips on things that you might not need but wanted to know. I print out some things and toss in the 81 to do
file. Any tech question I had always got a quick response. I would hate to see a split and loose that knowledge that is only a few keystrokes away.

TSW... this post isn't a flame on your concerns. Your point is valid and should be considered when the Benevolent dictator makes the final discision. My concern is only, the C3 forum is a Homogenous mixture of all kinds, that makes the C3 forum unique from all the rest. As posted by other members, it seems all like it the way it is.

Where did the spell checker go?
