Default Which clutch??

Im replacing the clutch in my 71 454. I am looking at Zoom, Mcloud, Centerforce and RAM. Any recommendations? I am also installng a TKO 5 speed at the same time. The car puts out about 450hp /480 foot lbs of torque.

Thanks in advance
Ron

I don't see Luk on your list. They are the OEM manufacturer. I installed one in my '69 big block, 435hp and love it. Also have a Keisler 5 speed, but wish I had not used a 3:08 rear end.

I have used Luk and Centerforce on small blocks with nice results. No experience on the others. I would go with something that is OEM equivalent.

Centerforce but watch the pedal freeplay closley and keep freeplay in proper adjustment for the first 1,500-3,000 miles or you will smoke your new clutch.

Another vote for Centerforce DF. No heavy pedal effort, nice smooth engagement, and killer grip.

Has anyone used the kit that Keisler has available?

I have used the Center Force I clutch for years behind my motor and it has been trouble free (and its for sale 5K miles). I plan to use the CF Dual Friction behind the new motor.

Centerforce II clutch. No problems after 500 miles.

Maybe 400 HP, 450 ft/lbs torque. Will find out in the spring on a chassis dyno.

The Keisler clutch is by Sachs- German company that makes clutches for everything, it seems from trucks to cars to F1 race cars. Any experience with Sachs?

Anyone running a Luk Clutch kit? The tech support at Luk states that the minimum Tourque spec for their origional clutch kit for the 454 is 425ft/lb. This is a minimum spec. Not sure why they rate clutches by minimum specs.

I have the Keisler Sachs clutch. Seems to be holding fine with no excessive pedal effort in the 650hp version.

My brother is running one in his 75 which is autocrossed...hard. The car has a strong 355, with an M22 and 4.11 gears. It's been driven for 10 years and still doesn't slip. And it's decent enough to drive on the street. I just wouldn't use it in a parade.
