Big block Serpentine Pully Setup.
I have seen these on like 90 and up suburbans and P/K
Will these work on 70's models BB also. I'm not sure, but
I thought GM changed the blocks or something, or bolt hole
style. I want to use one. I see you can buy brand new one's for
the small block, But not the BB

I think all the trucks and suv's use Long waterpump, where as the Corvette uses short style. This could be taken care of with some spacers though.
I don't know how the accesories are mounted on trucks etc, but if they sit nicely up and not too wide I can't why you shouldn't be able to use it on you car...

Megaladon I had been looking at this one but I think the A/C and altinator may be sitting a little to high. http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?P...D&ProdID=26946
It was on sale for a hundred cheaper but it is back to full price now.
The SB set up is alluminum and the BB is iron. Read the notes at the bottom of the page it talks about useing this setup with early heads. They also have it with A/C delete pulley.

DUDE, thats EXACTLY what I was looking for. I thought the
brackets were aluminun like the S/B . it don't matter it's
what I need. I will call to find out if it works on a 78 block
And it looks like it would not be a problem using the RPM AIR GAP intake

They are not the only ones that sell this setup here is another link: http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...3-P850C29.aspx
They have a better list of parts at this web site. The pic is of a SB setup. Type the part number in the google serch bar and it will bring up more info. I am still looking at this setup for mine. After looking at the March system (PRICE) I am still looking for something that will work other than the V-belts. Is this for your vette? If so please keep us informed. I have the Holley strip dominator intake on mine so I will have to run a tall hood anyway.

MARCH and STREET & performance are outraguos $$$$ over 2 grand
for the setup. I'm not building a garage queen to only come out shine.
So I don't mind getting non chrome stuff . It's gonna be a daily
driver anyway Now the 81 with the LT1 will get the chrome
and still be a Daily driver
I tried the 90's factory brackets on my big block when I first got the motor in and they were too tall and spaced ahead too far. As I remember the bottom pulley wouldnt fit without cutting the crossmember out and I didnt want to do that so I bit the bullet and forked out the cash for a street and performance setup.

S&P has the best looking setup out there for the BB.
I just don't want to spend more on the BB, when I have
to get the LT1 pullys also for my swap LT1 swap. thats
almost 5 GRAND right there
There is no GM BB setup that will clear the hood on a C3. The guy who did the SB to BB conversion (above) is on the right track but his will not clear either. I am currently adapting a GM SB truck setup to a BB with a long reverse flow water pump/AC compressor and power steering. It's possible but requires a lot of machine work (to the brackets and adapter plates) and cutting a notch in the crossmember for crank pulley clearance.
All In all, I would not recommend this conversion. V-belts are easier.
I'm not sure if any set-up that uses the long BBC water pump would fit into a C3. I notice on my BB that the lower crank pulley is pretty darn close to the recess in the frame cross member with the normal short BB water pump, and if that pulley was moved forward any more, the pulley wouldn't clear the frame recess. in my case, as it is, there's barely enough clearance to squeeze the fan belt through the gap.

What about an under drive pulley for the crank. I think the pulley dia. is smaller, anybody with us tonight that knows the dia of an under drive pulley compared to a standard pulley. It’s not the best option but if we can make something work it would sure save us some money.
The standard BB crank pulley is almost 8" diameter. I think a 6" will clear the crossmember but you would need to change the other pulleys 25% also. The problem with that is expense and the alternator pulley is smaller than the minimum diameter recommended by the pulley manufacturers. I notched the crossmember for crank pulley clearance and reinforced it with a custom spreader bar.
notched the crossmember? cut it out and made the crank-pulley recess longer? and then did you weld in new steel plate to fill in the cut-out? just trying to visualize.
